Account & Billing

Month six, not day one — plans, storage, archiving, and the levers in Settings.

Who manages billing

Who manages billing

The organization Owner. Admins see a read-only note — “Billing is managed by Sarah Chen” — and members see nothing billing-related at all.

Changing plans

Changing plans

Settings › Subscription › Change plan — Upgrade or Switch between Solo, Field, and Studio. Invoices, payment methods, billing interval, and cancellation live behind “Manage billing & invoices”, the billing portal. Larger firms: MOTHER LODE — contact sales.

Downgrading when you’re over the smaller plan’s project cap: LODE asks you to move projects to cold storage first — “Archive projects to switch to Solo — choose at least 4; restore anytime.” Archived projects never count against your slots.

Archiving & lapsing

Stopping — and what a lapse means

Settings › Data & Privacy › “Archive instead of cancelling” — the one way to stop paying without losing the record. There is no pause. Archive is download-only: the account’s projects, drawings and revision history are held, the full export works at any time, and starting a plan again restores everything as it was — but you cannot open or browse projects while Archive runs. Cancel Archive and the 30-day retention window starts.

If a plan lapses entirely: the account is locked — nothing can be created, uploaded, opened, or asked of DOC — and exporting your data always works.

Usage

The usage meters

Settings › Usage shows four meters: active projects · storage (cold storage counts at a quarter of its size) · AI messages (the meter appears once 85% is used) · team seats.

Archive vs delete

Archive vs delete — the distinction to teach

Archive projectCold storage. Files inaccessible until restored; restoring takes 12–48 hours and needs a free project slot; frees your active quota; never loses data. Restored compiled sets re-archive after 30 days unless you keep them out.
Delete projectType the project name to confirm. A 30-day grace period — then drawings, sheets, and compiled sets are destroyed permanently.
Delete account or orgWorks the same way: export first (“Export all files” bundles every PDF and emails a link), a 30-day grace period, and members’ own accounts survive an organization deletion.

Notifications

Notifications

The bell and the Notifications page collect what needs you — package ready, outputs ready, errors, trial ending, first access on a share link, @mentions. One email preference exists: “Daily mention digest” (Settings › Notifications).
